The Coverage Map, Explained

The coverage area is a list of towns, not a circle drawn on a map. Edmond sits at the center, about 84.62 square miles of Oklahoma County. Around it are five cities, each with its own city hall and its own permit office. That matters for a roof, because the permit rules can change the moment you cross a city line. Each town below links to its own page.

Hail doesn't stop at city limits. On May 16, 2010, NWS Norman logged 1.75-inch hail about 4 miles south-southwest of Edmond, 2.00 inches near Nichols Hills, Warr Acres and Choctaw, and 2.00 to 2.75 inches near Piedmont. Damage estimates ran "well into the millions." In every town below, the roofer pulls any permit the job needs.

  • Edmond, OK. The hub city, with 94,428 people at the 2020 Census. The Building & Safety FAQ says a residential re-roof needs no city permit, though every code rule still applies. Rules change, so confirm with Building & Safety at (405) 359-4780.
  • Nichols Hills, OK. About 8 miles south-southwest, a planned town laid out in 1928 and incorporated in 1929. The city issues roofing permits; call (405) 843-5222 to confirm. See roof replacement in Nichols Hills.
  • Warr Acres, OK. About 12 miles southwest in western Oklahoma County, incorporated in February 1948. Call City Hall at (405) 789-2892 for a project review before work starts. See roof replacement in Warr Acres.
  • Piedmont, OK. About 15 miles west, mostly in Canadian County, growing from 7,402 people in 2020 to about 9,427 in 2025. A roof permit is required from Community Development, (405) 373-2621. See roof replacement in Piedmont.
  • Guthrie, OK. About 16 miles north in Logan County, the territorial capital from 1890 and state capital from 1907. Roofing needs a permit from Building Services, (405) 282-1110. Ask the city whether your block has design rules. See roof replacement in Guthrie.
  • Choctaw, OK. About 16 miles southeast in eastern Oklahoma County, incorporated in April 1904. Call Development Services at (405) 390-2999 for a project review before work starts. See roof replacement in Choctaw.

Check With Us First

Mailing addresses can mislead. Some homes with an Edmond mailing address may sit inside Oklahoma City limits, where a roofing permit has been required since August 1, 2025. Before any work starts, check which city your address is actually in, because that decides whose permit rules apply. Your roofer pulls the permit, but knowing the answer helps you ask the right questions.

If your town isn't on this list, call (405) 555-0174 anyway. We'll tell you plainly whether your address falls inside the area this site covers, and if it doesn't, we'll say so rather than guess.
